Biography
Mark moved with his family to Alaska in 2012 from Phoenix, AZ. Upon arriving in Alaska, he spent most of his professional time working at Hope Community Resources for 10 years and International Aviation Service for 4 years working in various roles. His favorite was that of Employee Education Specialist at Hope doing corporate training and education. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Justice Studies from Arizona State University, Master of Arts in Education from the University of Phoenix, and held an Arizona state teaching license and taught social studies for the Chandler School District in Chandler, AZ. Mark is currently pursuing a PhD at Wayland Baptist University, with an anticipated graduation date in 2026.
Beyond work, one of Mark’s main hobbies is being involved in martial arts. In addition to helping run a local nonprofit karate school, he also volunteers every summer at Camp Shriver through Special Olympics Alaska teaching karate to people with developmental disabilities. He also likes spending quality time with his wife Kelleen, daughter Tamae, and their miniature schnauzer Max. Other interests include travel, live music, and cooking.
Mark is excited about his next journey at Lumen Christi. He hopes to leverage his background and experience and combine it with his passion for teaching and helping others, while contributing to the mission at Lumen Christi.
