Alison Craig

This is my 17th year teaching at Lumen Christi High School. I was born and raised outside of Annapolis, MD, where I still enjoy traveling to visit my family. I received a B.S. in Biology from the University of Vermont in 2004 while also playing Division 1 lacrosse. From there I received an M.A. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2007 followed by earning my teaching certification in 2012. Since receiving my masters, I have worked in the private school setting teaching a variety of science and math classes in Maryland, Colorado and now Alaska. During my summers in Colorado I worked in the environmental consulting industry, which brought me to Alaska in the summer of 2008 for baseline work at a mining exploration project. In 2010, I relocated to Alaska and joined the amazing community of Lumen Christi High School, teaching a range of math courses, from pre-algebra to calculus as well as science at both the junior high and high school levels. This year I am proud and excited to take on the role of Dean of Academics. I look forward to the challenge of guiding our young people throughout their academic journey while at Lumen. 

Within the classroom, I strive to meet each student at their level and create a dynamic space that engages all levels and styles of learners. I believe in developing solid relationships with each student so that they have an open and motivated approach to learning.  I strongly believe in incorporation application into my units so that students gain a broader world wide view of the importance of their education. 

In my spare time I enjoy spending my free time hiking, camping, and skiing with my daughter Isla (age 6) and our two dogs, Darwin and Leo, and scuba diving around the world whenever I get the chance to travel.
