Admissions Process and Policies
Curious to know what our school is all about? Come and see for yourself what small classes, dedicated staff, rigorous curriculum and an ‘Archangel Proud’ school spirit can do for your son or daughter.
Step One: Visit our School and Ask Questions
Contact the School – Email the Admissions Office at [email protected] or call our Director of Advancement at 907-215-7156 schedule a personal tour.
If you don’t live in Anchorage, we encourage you to watch the videos on this website and follow us on Facebook to get a sense of our school community.
Step Two: Submit an Application for Admission

Applications are accepted throughout the year though students are only admitted up through the first week of each semester (as space allows.)
Transfer students from out of state or other parts of Alaska may be considered for enrollment outside this one week window on a case by case basis. Interested families are encouraged to contact the Director of Advancement to discuss your specific situation.
There is a non-refundable application fee of $100.00 ($250.00 for international students) which must be paid at the time the application is submitted.
Step Three: Assessments, Acceptance and Invitation to Enroll
Lumen Christi requires math and language arts assessments for all potential new students, regardless of incoming grade. In general, assessments for each upcoming academic year are done during April of the current year (e.g., assessments will be done in April 2027 for the 2027-28 school year.)
The school also requires a brief student and parent interview with the Principal (or designee) at a mutually agreed upon date/time, once assessments are complete. For families outside of Anchorage including international ones, these will be conducted via Google Meet.
Prospective students will be considered based on the following:
- An application has been submitted and application fee paid;
- The student has completed math and language arts assessments;
- The Principal (or designee) has conducted the student/parent interview; and
- Copies of former/current school transcripts including standardized testing, disciplinary records and 504/IEP Plans, if any, have been received and reviewed.
If admitted, families will be notified in writing by May 1st and invited to complete the enrollment process. An enrollment fee of $150.00 is due at that time. Completed enrollments must be received by May 15th. Failure to submit by that date may result in the student’s spot being offered to another student.
If the school is unable to place the student, families will be notified and given the option to discuss the decision further with the Principal or Director of Advancement.
If you are interested in applying for admissions and it is past the April assessment/May enrollment time period, please email the Admissions Office or call 907-215-7156.
Admissions Policies

Lumen Christi High School does not discriminate on the basis of sex, race, color, national or ethnic origin in admissions or in the administration of its educational policies, scholarship and loan programs, athletic programs, or other school-administered programs.
Lumen Christi is not an interim school for students expelled or suspended from the public school system.
Lumen Christi does not have a Special Education department. Students with 504 or Individual Education Plans (IEPs) may be accepted, but all accommodations will be reviewed and approved on an individual basis. The faculty and staff will work to accommodate individual needs as they are able. Current IEP and 504 plans should be included with the student’s application for consideration.
Students whose math and language arts assessments indicate learning at one or more grade level below their current enrolled grade may be placed in a lower grade and/or directed to a school that can better provide for their educational needs.
Although Lumen Christi High School admits both Catholic and non-Catholic students, we do prioritize for admittance to the school in the following order:
- Siblings of current Lumen Christi students;
- Families from our parish, Saint Benedict Church; and,
- Families from Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, our sister school;
- Families from all other Archdiocese of Anchorage-Juneau parishes;
- All other students.
All students, regardless of faith background, are required to complete the theology curriculum and to participate in activities related to the Catholic identity of Lumen Christi. This includes attending Mass and other religious events. Please see the 2025-26 Parent Student Handbook for additional details.
Please call the Director of Advancement at 907-215-7156 or email [email protected] if you have questions regarding admissions.
International Student Program
General
Lumen Christi High School is certified as a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) school under the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) bureau of the Department of Homeland Security. As such, the school is authorized to issue ICE Form I-20 “Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant Student Status” to international students who apply for and are accepted into our school program. Lumen Christi uses the Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) to administer and maintain information on nonimmigrant international students.
As a condition of acceptance, international students and their families have proven financial solvency and have secured housing on their own. Lumen Christi does not assist students in finding housing or host families, nor does it award financial assistance in order to attend.
For more information about Lumen’s international student enrollment, please view the “International Student Program” information in the our 2025-26 Parent Student Handbook or contact the Director of Advancement at [email protected].
