I was born in Florida, but with my father serving in the Coast Guard, our family moved throughout the United States before finally landing in Kodiak, where I attended high school.
After graduation, I joined the Army and spent three and a half years in Germany with a Pershing II missile unit. Soon after, I began a 31-year career with UPS — yes, the brown trucks — eventually serving on the management team overseeing statewide operations. My wife, Rebecca, and I moved throughout Alaska over the years, living in Fairbanks, Juneau, and two stints in Anchorage before relocating to Idaho where I responsible for operations across Idaho and Wyoming.
Before that move, I was blessed to be part of Saint Benedict’s Parish for 20 years, where I had the opportunity to work with small groups in high school Faith Formation. The depth of the questions students asked never ceased to amaze me. I learned with them and from them (and still do) in every interaction.
During that 20 year period I was also part of the committee that fundraised within the parish to help build Lumen Christi! My son and his wife both graduated from Lumen, and I still feel at home in its hallways. I’m grateful to hear the joy that fills them between every bell.
I enjoy extreme activities like triathlons and marathons and early morning snow runs. My average time on the Rubik’s Cube is 2 minutes.
