Principal’s Update:
A special shout out and congratulations to members of our Lumen Christi Debate Team, who participated in a recent competition at South High School. Class of 2022 sophomores Vaeda Michaelson and Jack Murkowski won 2nd place team award in the Public Forum portion of the meet, and Jack earned 2nd place individual award in Public Forum. An honorable mention goes out to Class of 2023 freshman Emily Ross who held her own in a series of Lincoln-Douglas debates against some tough, experienced competitors. Thanks to Mrs. Kelli Reed, our Debate Coach, for working with our team members each week during elective periods!
We hope that you will join us tomorrow night for our first annual Dia de los Muertos community event from 8-10pm. Gracias to Mrs. April Alvarez, Mrs. Josefina Ortega, and Mrs. Celina Vargas for organizing and preparing decorations and food for the evening!
Due to delays in our new gym floor installation, we had to move the Dodgeball Tournament scheduled for Nov 15th to Friday, December 13th! We are sorry for the inconvenience and hope that you will save the new date on your calendar.
By now, we hope you have received a copy of the 2018-2019 Annual Report highlighting all the accomplishments, blessings, and recognitions of our last school year. Please share your copy with friends and other family members to showcase the multitude of good news in our school.
Next week, we are officially starting our LUMEN-ary Drive campaign, our most important annual fundraiser, second only to the Gala-Auction! A successful LUMEN-ary drive is critical to our financial stability. Thank you to our School Board, faculty, and many of our school families who have already enthusiastically supported this appeal with thousands of dollars. Please be on the lookout soon for a letter from me, Father Tom, and our School Board Chair, Mr. Greg Gallagher, requesting your assistance and sacrifice in helping us achieve our goal of raising $50,000.
Virtue of the Week:
This week’s SportsLeader Virtue is ADVENTURE: The strength to undertake new and daring enterprises. The opposite of Adventure is APATHY: The weakness of having a lack of enthusiasm, training and relationship skills.
Campus Ministry:
The Campus Ministry Office is located in the school library, students and parents are always welcome to stop by!
