Good luck to our girls basketball team as they compete in State next week!  And I hope all of you have a wonderful, and well-deserved, week off and I truly look forward to seeing each of you back here later this month.  God bless all of you.

Announcements: 

NEW!  2018-19 School Calendar:  Attached to Lumen News is the 2018-19 school calendar.

Pre-Registration Packets:  On Wednesday March 7th, pre-registration packets for the 2018-19 school year were sent home with students.  Please let Jessica know if you have any questions.

Lumen Girls Basketball:  Our Lumen girls basketball team took 1st place at Regions and is headed to State Championships over Spring Break.  Come out and cheer them on!! Once we know the schedule we will update everyone on details and put it on Facebook as well.

Up-Coming Spring Open House:  Please spread the word and invite families you know entering grades 7-12 to come to one of Lumen Christi’s Spring Open Houses.

  • April 5th form 6-8pm

  • Pizza dinner will be served both nights.

Listening Sessions with Archbishop Etienne:  Archbishop Etienne is interested in hearing from as many people as possible about our mission as a Church here in the Archdiocese of Anchorage.  Please see the attached flyer for more details and the schedule.

Gala Items for Purchase:  There are a couple of Gala items for purchase, please contact the office to purchase.

  • ZUMBA:  Zumba with Father Tom and Principal Ross!  Class taught by our very own Peggy Bernert.  On Friday, April 13th, 2018 6-8pm.

    • Adults:  Participants are $20 per person; Spectators are $30 per person

    • Students:  Participants are $5 per student; Spectators are $10 per student

  • Ladies’ Night Texas Hold ‘Em-ONLY 2 spots left!:  Ladies you are invited to an evening of Poker.  Hosted by Mrs. Estes and Mr. Bauzon on Saturday, March 24th, 2018 at 6pm.  $100 per player

    • Texas Hold’em tutorial, practice, & etiquette at 6pm

    • Tournament begins at 7pm

    • Prizes include:  1st Place ($150 to Raven’s Nest Spa), 2nd Place ($100 to Raven’s Nest Spa), and 3rd Place ($50 to Raven’s Nest Spa)

    • Dinner Included.

Scrip:  Our next order deadline is Monday March 26th.  Place your order online at www.shopwithscrip.com or fill out the attached order form and return it to the office.  If you decide to set up an account on shopwithscrip.com, please contact the office for Lumen’s enrollment code.

Parent Share Hours:  Reminder to update your parent share hours if you haven’t already done so.  You may record them directly into the book in the office or email Mrs. Estes all of the details and she will record them for you.  Please Note:  The PVO section of this newsletter has a list of opportunities for you to complete your share hours.  We still need help for the remainder of the year at the Archangel Attic and Concessions/Gate. Also we are looking to fill important positions for next year, please prayerfully consider volunteering for one of them.

Calling All Photographers!: Do you have any great pictures of your students playing sports or participating in extra-curricular activities? Although our Yearbook team tries to be at as many events as possible, we can’t be everywhere. Please send any pictures you have to Mrs. Spillers, so that we can try to include them in the yearbook. Service Immersion Trip:  The Archdiocese is gathering a group of teens to do a service trip in Dillingham, Alaska from June 24-29, 2018 for teens entering Grade 9 in 2018 and older.  Space is limited and filled on a first come basis, so register early. Knights of Columbus-Bison Hunt:  The 2018 Kodiak Bison Hunt Raffle is underway.  Purchase a raffle ticket from Knights of Columbus at your Parish for your chance to win a guided hunt on “Kodiak Game Ranch” OR $3500 CASH.

Our next and Final PVO Meeting of the year will be Tuesday, April 24th at 7pm. (Please note the date change.)  Please join us to look back over this school year and start planning for the 2018-19 school year.

Campus Ministry:

All are invited to join us for Mass at 7:15 a.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays in our  School Chapel!

  • Please join us  for student led and planned Stations of the Cross on Fridays, throughout Lent.  We begin in the gym at 9am each Friday.

  • Our senior class has put together almost 200 Blessing Bags for homeless. These bags consist of hand warmers, trail mix, water, and various other items that can bring nutrition and comfort to those in our community who do not have a warm place to lay their heads at night.  If your family would like to take some of these bags to carry with you for when you meet someone in need please come to room 120.  We ask that an adult come to get bags, so we can ensure that students are not putting themselves at risk by distributing these alone.

  • Please sign up for service at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School.  Each Friday 4 students are needed to help in classrooms from 12:30-2:30.  Students please sign up in the main hallway.

  • Calling all musicians!!!  We are looking for a piano player to play for our school Masses!  You may choose the hymns with which you are most comfortable. Please see Mrs. Loeffler.

  • Sign up sheets for Friday service hours at The Archangel Attic can be found on the bulletin board across from the school office. Students please sign up!!

  • All eligible students are invited to be trained as altar servers for our school Masses. Interested students please see Mrs. Loeffler.

  • If you know of a worthy cause in need of volunteers let us know so we can get the word out!
