Principal’s Report 10/31/2014
Dear Lumen Family:
It is ‘All Hallows Eve’ and the halls of Lumen are full of happy students, dressed in a variety of costumes. The faculty and staff are also dressed in costumes depicting characters from Star Trek to ‘Cat in the Hat’. The junior high basketball teams took the ferry from Whittier to Cordova for a tournament, while the girls’ volleyball team prepares for a weekend at Su-Valley. The first week in November brings with it All Saints’ Day and our monthly Rosary, along with two Masses (Wednesday and Friday). Before we know it, we’ll be heading out for Thanksgiving Break!
Advanced Science Project: Sponsorship monies are needed for the ASP. These funds will enable the students to complete their research projects. If you would like to make a donation, please contact Mrs. Brewer (dbrewer@lumenchristiak.org) or the front desk.
Advanced Ed Survey: In an effort to improve the school, we are conducting a ‘Parent Survey’. If you have not yet shared your opinions related to the school, please take time to do so: http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/5514163 . Your honest opinions are appreciated and responses to the survey will remain anonymous. The survey will close at 2:30 PM on Friday, November 7.
Lumen Christi’s Annual Dessert Auction: It’s time for our annual Dessert Auction. This event is a very fun Lumen Christi event. The party is low key and relaxed, and we want everyone to feel welcome. It’s a night for people to come enjoy good company and raise money for our students at Lumen, but don’t be bummed if you walk out without a dessert, there are only twelve desserts and the bidding is fierce. This goes out to each and every one of you, we had a great turn out last year, so please come join us for an evening of great people, delicious food, fantastic wine, prizes at the silent auction table, and of course the most AMAZING desserts provide by our very own Lumen parents, teachers, students, alumni, and local bakeries.
The big event is being held 6 PM on November 22, at Matt and Stacey Heilala’s house. Tickets are $50 per-person, and 100{d4876d85bca45a190b33d6c696456a399841af28eb325342d1f9ba09483f3a19} of all the money collected that night goes to the school as all of the food, wine, desserts, and prizes are donated. You can pick up your ticket at the front desk.
A Huge Thank You! Lumen Christi’s “Dig Pink Spiketacular” was a huge success. The coordinators of this event would like to thank all of the wonderful, generous, and hardworking Lumen Christi volunteers who helped make this event happen, we couldn’t have done it without you!
10th Grade Gala Project: 10th grade is looking for a wood framed wooden window to recycle for GALA project — preferably four or two paned around 2-3’ x 2’. Please let the front desk know if you have one for the auction.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton School Auction: St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s annual fundraiser “An Evening in Paradise” is Saturday, November 8 at the Anchorage Marriott Downtown starting at 5 PM. If you have any questions, contact the SEAS auction office at (907) 345-2327 or auction@akseas.com.
Box Tops for Education: We made our first submission to Box Tops for Education and earned $68.50! Please help Lumen earn money by turning in Box Tops to the front office.
