I’ve had the privilege of being on contract with Lumen Christi since 2023. Before that, I spent 20 years as a counselor in the Anchorage School District, including 13 years working with the Highly Gifted Program at West High School. During that time, I was selected as one of only seven high school counselors nationwide invited to Chicago to review National Merit Scholarship applications alongside seven college admissions deans from around the country. That experience gave me a first-hand understanding of exactly what admissions officers are looking for, in coursework, in essays, and in the story a student’s whole application tells.
I bring that same approach to every Lumen Christi student I work with, and I’m proud of where it’s taken them. Lumen Christi students I’ve guided have been accepted to some of the most respected universities in the country, including the University of Pennsylvania, University of San Francisco, Georgetown University, University of Michigan, William & Mary, Gonzaga University, Colorado School of Mines, Holy Cross, Fordham University, and George Washington University – these are alongside strong acceptances at dozens of other excellent schools across the country and here in Alaska.
What I love most about this work is that it isn’t just about getting into a school – it’s about helping each student find the right one. Whether that’s a large research university, a small liberal arts college, a technical/trade program in the Lower ’48 or right here in Alaska, my goal is the same: to make sure every Lumen Christi student leaves with options, confidence, and a plan that’s truly their own.
