Principal’s Update:
A couple of updates for you. First, our School Board and faculty will be reviewing the data from the recent COVID survey over the next few days. We hope to have the survey data (without comments), the Board’s summary review, and our school’s proposed plan for Spring Semester to you by mid next week. Thank you for your patience to this point as we try to ensure we have the best possible plan going forward.
Secondly, and most importantly, I want to formally announce the kick off of our high school boys and girls basketball season! Practices started yesterday and we have a record number of athletes participating–that is so awesome! We are blessed to have Mr. Adam Trombley returning to coach the boys program. Adam has been with us for five years, and during that time, he and our boys have won the Peninsula Conference regional championships in 2020 and 2021 and are the reigning 1A State champions from spring 2021! The boys are looking to defend their state title, so it promises to be an exciting season! Additionally, Mr. Tom Gregory is returning to coach the girls program and assistant coach the boys. Tom has been with us for five years as well and coached the girls to a Peninsula Conference regional championship in spring 2021! Tom and the girls team are looking forward to defending this title as well against some very competitive opponents.
During the season, which runs until mid-March, our athletes will sacrifice many hours in practice and be in our gym over Christmas and Spring Break honing their skills, developing their bodies, growing in virtue and character, and strengthening the bonds of teamwork. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them as they embark on this journey. I ask each and every family to come out and support our teams as the game schedule gets in full swing. Your first opportunity is Dec. 16-18 when we will host a tournament of teams in our gym following final exam week and the start of Christmas break. Good luck Archangels–our school is with you!

This first week of Advent
These weeks of Advent give us the opportunity to be still and reflect on the impact that the birth of the tiny baby Jesus has on our outlook on life. We wish you peace on your journey this Advent season.
Advent Wreath Prayers – Week 1 by Dave Frincke
Come, Lord Jesus! Come! May this Advent be a time of deep renewal in my life, dear Lord. May it be a time in which I strive with all my heart to seek out Your gentle and profound voice. Give me the grace, dear Lord, to turn away from the many noises of the world that compete for my attention and to turn only to You and to all You wish to say. Come, Lord Jesus, come into my life more deeply during this Advent season. Jesus, I trust in You.
● Junior Class retreat will begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, December 10th. We hope all junior class families will be able to join us for dinner and prayer at 5:30.
● Students in need of service hours for the school community? Join the choir! Volunteers meet once a week (students taking choir as a class meet 4 times a week) to practice music and earn 1⁄2 hour of service each week they practice and sing at Mass with the choir.
Happy Birthday this week to Leland Hohmann, Justin Ortega, Tommy Simono, Ben Medland and Kendra Jarrett!
● We pray for peace and unity in our country
● We pray for all suffering mental, emotional, and psychological unrest, that they will be healed
● We pray for our Church and government leaders, that they will allow God to work through them
● For those who are alone, suffering homelessness, and hungry during this Thanksgiving, that God will use us to meet their needs
● For our Lumen Christi families, that they will be drawn more closely to God during this Advent Season

Front Office News:
Secret Santa
The first two are smaller, around a $5 minimum each. The third gift is larger, around a $10 minimum. Usually the third gift is given in person and the giver’s identity is revealed, but this is up to the student. We will assign givers/receivers later that week so students have time to prepare for the exchange starting the 6th.
Junior high and high school are having separate exchanges so students will more likely give to someone they are familiar with and to make it easier to secretly give them the gifts.

At Home COVID Tests
We’ve received another shipment of at-home tests and anticipate having stock on hand for the remainder of this academic year. If at any time you would like to request some, email Anne at agore@lumenchristiak.org or Kim at lchs@lumenchristiak.org and we’ll send’em home with your student. As a reminder, these are the “shallow depth nasal swab” types, are confidential and you are not required to report results to us, or anyone!
27th Annual Gala Fundraiser
Earlier in the week we sent out a text with a survey link – if you weren’t able to complete it then, we’d appreciate 60 seconds of your time (truly! 4 questions only!) The info will give us a better idea about family participation. Many thanks for your input: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/LQW5969
Thanks to those who signed up to help with class projects, and to bring in wine! The Gala truly is a community effort and it wouldn’t be successful without everyone’s support.
Archangel Attic – BONUS Share Hours offer!
We’ve had some incredible support this month from the ‘regular’ (non Lumen family) Archangel Attic volunteers who have provided coverage for all Saturdays in December. Looking ahead to January and beyond however, we find ourselves in need of help as many of those volunteers are snowbirds and will soon be heading to warmer climes. To entice sign ups – do we have a deal for you! In between now and March 4th (the start of Spring Break):
If you sign up and complete one shift (3 hours) you’ll get a 50% bonus, so 4.5 hours total!
If you sign up and complete two shifts (6 hours) you’ll get 9 hours total – again, a 50% bonus!
If you sign up and complete three shifts (9 hours) you got it – another 50% bonus for 13.5 hour total! So click here to sign up and start rackin’ up those hours! https://signup.com/go/rKBncff
Winter Formal Dance
