Born and raised in sunny southern California, I graduated from Santa Margarita Catholic High School in 2008. I went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts in both U.S. History and Art History at the University of California, Irvine. Following my passion for history, I enrolled at California State University, Fullerton and received a Master of Arts in Public History. After earning my M.A., I moved to Anchorage to join my husband in experiencing the “Last Frontier.” Recently, I completed my M.S. in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Citizenship from Saint Joseph’s University.
This is my ninth year teaching at Lumen Christi Catholic High School. Growing up in a family of educators, education has much to do with who I am as a person. While teaching at Lumen Christi, I hope to inspire my students to find new ways to make education exciting. All students are blessed with individual talents, and I will strive to help them harness those talents during these formative years. I expect rigorous effort, diligent preparation, as well as a sense of humor from both my students, and myself while learning in the classroom.
When I have spare time, I enjoy swimming or curling up in a comfortable chair with a good book. If given the chance, I will hop on a plane to California to soak in the rays of sunshine, spend time at the beach, and visit with my beloved family. I am a huge lover of animals and relish spending time at the Alaska Zoo or at the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. My husband and I currently care for our own animal, our adopted dog, Trigg. We have two beautiful girls – Zoey (age 6) and Riley (age 3)! Our family enjoys driving around Alaska, fishing in Seward, and traveling to new destinations!
