I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. I am the product of two amazing (retired) Anchorage School District teachers. I spent my elementary, middle school, and high school years in many sports including: soccer, gymnastics, volleyball, basketball, track and field, and karate. My two brothers and I attended Huffman Elementary, Hanshew and then Robert Service High School.
Western Oregon State College was my choice of college, where I earned degrees in Speech Communications, Geography, and Earth Science. Returning to Anchorage to student teach, through the University of Alaska, Anchorage, I graduated a semester later with a Bachelors of Science in Education. In 2005, I earned my Masters Degree in Education from Grand Canyon University, and currently teach education courses as an adjunct professor at UAA.
My husband Brian and I got married at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, and we have two amazing (now grown) boys; Alex who is married and teaches fifth grade in Las Vegas and Darien, who is working at an insurance company assessing claims. We are very blessed to get to spend time traveling and adventuring with them in the summer and throughout the year in the states and in other countries.
As a retired Anchorage School District teacher of twenty-five years, and with my four years of teaching at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Elementary School, I look forward to the new blessings and opportunities to share my passion as a lifelong learner here at Lumen Christi High School.
