I was born and raised in Ketchikan with two amazing sisters and a large, extended family by my side – we are proud to be able to trace our family ancestry back to John Gore, who sailed to Alaska with Captain Cook in 1778.
In 1989 I moved to Anchorage after graduation from the State University of New York at Stony Brook with a BA in Liberal Arts (English & History.) I later went on to earn a Masters Degree in Public Health from the University of Washington and then worked at the Anchorage Neighborhood Health Center and for the State of Alaska, Division of Women’s, Children’s and Family Health for over a decade each. I retired from public health after a fulfilling 20+ year career and spent the next few years at home raising two amazing sons, both of whom attended/attend Lumen Christi. My oldest graduated in 2023, the younger will graduate this year in 2024.
In 2018 I started working at the school’s Front Desk. After a busy three years there, I was given the opportunity to develop and grow advancement and enrollment activities for the school. Every day is different and regardless of what activity I’m working on and every day I remain impressed by our faculty, staff and students. Kindness, empathy, joy, humor, compassion, morality – these are all traits exhibited daily and woven into the fabric of Lumen Christi life!
I’m a former Board Member for the Sitka Music Festival and the Alaska Public Health Association and currently serve as a compassionate care volunteer for the No One Dies Alone program at Providence Hospital. I have a passion for international travel and love to read.
