Principal’s Report 10/01/2014
Dear Lumen Family:
What beautiful fall weather! The days have been so nice, many of the classes held discussions outside in the peaceful setting of God’s creation. This weekend the Archangel Attic will be hosting a special ‘Christmas’ sale. We hear there are many wonderful items, so please stop by to check out what they have for sale. Since the Attic is hosting the sale in the Parish Hall, this Friday students will have Friday lunch at the school (rather than the Parish Hall). Please pack ‘cold’ lunches the students will not have access to the microwaves.
Awards Ceremony
Congratulations to all of the students who received awards, and to the parents who helped with the ceremony and the ice cream social. Lumen is especially proud of Katherine Brown who received commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Program for her exceptional academic performance.
Tutoring
Lumen offers tutoring on Thursday nights for those students who need some additional assistance with homework. Based on feedback from parents, the NEW tutoring time for this year will be Thursday nights from 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM. If you are interested in this program for your student, please contact Mr. Harmon (jharmon@lumenchristiak.org) so he can ensure that there are enough tutors available (we try to limit one tutor to no more than 3 students). All students with below a 2.0 GPA will be asked to work with a tutor.
Outside Clean Up Day: Friday, October 3rd
After school on Friday, we’d like to get as many students and parents who may be available to volunteer to help clean up the grounds area around the school and Church. This is a great opportunity for our students to earn community service hours and to take pride in our wonderful community. The link to the volunteer sign up is here: http://www.volunteerspot.com/Group/151523700124#!/show
