In other weekend news, four members of our debate team were hard at work at the Bartlett Debate Tournament.
Lucille, Lane, Cameron and Henry were competing in Reader's Theater; Lane and Lucille doubled down with additional work in Improvised Duet Acting where they made it to the finals!
It was definitely a long weekend in Cordova with some wins - two by the Varsity Girls and one by the Varsity Boys - but also some losses by both Varsity and Junior Varsity teams. Despite those, the Varsity Girls took second in the Tournament and the teamwork and fun factors were high all the way around.
Congratulations to Amara, Lilly, Porter, Bryce and Tai for making the all tournament team!
For now we wish our athletes fair winds and following seas as they make their way back to Whittier via Valdez (where they were held due to stormy conditions....)
Enjoy a day of well deserved rest tomorrow, Archangels! ... See MoreSee Less

Cheers to our Varsity Lady Archangels who won their first game today, unfortunately our Varsity Boys came up a little short.
All was not lost however - inbetween studying and even taking exams (it’s good to have a parent-teacher-chaperone with the team - thanks Mrs. Bouton!) a few students got an impromptu marine biology lesson - sea otters are loud. 😂 ... See MoreSee Less
Twenty five days and counting.....our Annual Fundraising Gala is right around the corner and we can’t wait to celebrate our students and school with you.
Tickets and tables are on sale - there are just FIVE tables (approximately 50-60 seats) left, so please make sure you get your tickets now!
And they’re off! Good luck to our Archangels as they head to Cordova for games this weekend. 🏀🏀🏀
p.s. Our Athletic Director always refers our players as “Student Athletes” - students first, athletes next. We think that’s pretty apparent here. Keep up the good work, and good grades! ... See MoreSee Less
As we close out our first week of 2025, several classes ended with teamwork building games.
Our seniors have the goal to make it from one end of the building and back again, passing a marble along individually held troughs. So far they’ve made it halfway!
Our 7th graders tried to match answers with Mr Berry in a guessing game to score a pizza party next week. Victory was claimed by Table Team Two with 4 points - well done 7e’s!
Other highlights from our first week include adding two new Archangels to our student roster - Noah and Arthur in the 7th grade. We’re so happy to have them join us!
Our first Mass of 2025 was hosted by the House of St John Bosco; and up in Nome our girls team is getting to see a few sights in between games! (Brrrrrr….it looks cold there….) ... See MoreSee Less
We started 2025 off right yesterday by ushering in a new Lumen Christi tradition - blessing of our six House doors within the school.
This is a tradition that occurs on or near the Feast of the Epiphany to ask for God's protection and blessings for all who dwell (or learn) within. Above the door, the letters "C+M+B" are written in chalk which stands for the Latin blessing "Christus Mansionem Benedicat" meaning "May Christ Bless this House." The letters also represent the 3 Magi, Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar. Added to the letters are the numbers 20 and 25 to signify the year.
Fr. Tom was going to bless the remaining doors in the school today, but was foiled by the school closure! We know he'll finish his rounds as soon as Mother Nature gets us back in the classroom. ... See MoreSee Less
