Principal’s Update:   

Thank you for a great school year!  On behalf of our faculty and staff, to those students leaving our school, we wish you the very best of luck; we were honored to have you in our school family!  To those new students attending in the fall, we welcome you to our community of Faith, Family, and Excellence! And to those students continuing their educational journey with us, have a blessed summer, get some rest and sunshine, and we will see you in August!

Campus Ministry:

We wish all of you a safe, blessed and beautiful summer with your families. Travel with Faith and Peace and wherever you land in August, may God be with you!

• Registration for ACYC (Alaska Catholic Youth Conference) 2019 is still open. ACYC is a gathering of Alaskan teens, young adults, parents, pastoral administrators, and parish staff members. It features both Alaskan and national Catholic musicians and speakers who will help teens live as missionary disciples in their communities, whether that be rural or urban. The week will include Eucharistic liturgies, reconciliation, workshops, a concert, and yes, fun! As Pope Francis tweets: “A Christian is never bored or sad. Rather, the one who loves Christ is full of joy and radiates joy.” Teens who journey to ACYC will return radiating the joy of renewed faith and a strengthened desire to live as God’s disciples! Prayer Spot:

Please remember the following in your prayers this week.

• All families that this summer will renew soul and body

• Teens who are struggling with faith

• Return to a reverence for all life

• For Josh Van Tuyl and his family as they mourn his grandmother’s death, and for the repose of her soul

• All first responders

• All families in crisis

Archangel Sports Update:

Co-ed High School soccer starts August 1st – yes, before school begins! Contact Coach Warren at athletics@lumenchristiak.org if your student wants to play.

School Announcements:

Class of 2020: Senior sweaters are available to order on-line through our local vendor, Alaska Serigraphics at https://lumenchristi.akcustom.ink/  If you wish to go and try one on for sizing purposes, AK Seri. is located at 1711 Abbott Road and their phone number is 561-2000.

Also – Class of 2020! Mrs. Spillers wants to remind you that summer is a great time to get your Senior Portraits taken. When we return for the 2019-2020 School Year, your senior portraits will be due on Thursday, October 31st.

2019-20 Share Hours: Here’s a great way to get a jump on next year’s Share Hours (parents & students alike.) Every year our Jewel Lake neighbor (and Lumen supporter) True Value Hardware places nearly 5,000 American Flags in the yards of homes in the Sand Lake and Jewel Lake area. They’ve been doing this for almost 10 years and it’s greatly appreciated by the community. (They get calls at the store every year about how much people love it.)  They’re looking for volunteers who can help distribute flags this year – if you can, please join them on July 3rd at 7a in the True Value parking lot – coffee, hot chocolate & treats provided! 2019-20 Back to School Registration: Watch your mailbox in early July for back to school information packets, and don’t forget to mark down August 6th for our annual back to school picnic & registration day.
