Principal’s Update:
Each year we solicit student artwork for our annual Christmas card. Congratulations to Isabella Farro (class of 2019) and Mikayla Terry (class of 2020) for submitting the winning designs! These cards will be sent to our Lumen families and friends in thanksgiving for the past year and the next year to come.
It’s been a great (and exciting – think earthquake) year so far.
Good luck to all students as we head into finals week!
LUMEN-ary Drive:
LUMEN-ary Drive Update: Good news! We continue to slowly move towards our goal of $40,000. As of Wednesday, December 12th, we have cash-in-the-door of $26,209. Thank you to all who have supported this important campaign to date. Please remember that a successful LUMEN-ary Drive is critical to our school’s financial stability. One of the ways to encourage greater participation in the LUMEN-ary Drive is to have your son/daughter send out a personal note to extended family and friends along with LUMEN-ary Drive information. National ‘best practices” show that extended family members and friends are excited to help support the mission of Catholic education. To date, 31 families have sent a total of 55 personal notecards through the school, and recipients of these personal notecards have responded with a total of $4,000 It’s working! Let’s work together to achieve our goal of raising the $40,000 by Christmas! Thank you!

Archangel Sports Update:
Today! The Middle School Basketball Tournament which was interrupted by the earthquake resumes at 3pm today (girls) and 4pm (boys.) Come cheer the Archangels on over at the Arctic Rec Center (4855 Arctic Blvd, in between Tudor and International.) This is a single elimination tournament – if our teams lose against Birchwood today they’ll be out of the tournament. If they prevail they’ll play for the Championship tomorrow at the Arctic Rec Center. Go Archangels!
Our High School team is still a go for hosting the Lumen Invitational Tournament on December 18 – 20. The tournament will kick off at the Arctic Rec Center, with times to be announced.
School Announcements:
Missing Coats
When the earthquake hit two weeks ago, coats and sweatshirts that were easy to grab from the student room were distributed primarily to kids coming from gym class who were evacuating out into the cold, dressed only in shorts and a t-shirt. Some students and one teacher are still missing coats and sweatshirts. If your student came home from school the day of the earthquake wearing something that didn’t look familiar, please return it to Mrs. Gore at the Front Desk so it can be returned to its owner.
Lost & Found
Speaking of lost items…there is a large collection of coats, hats, sweatshirts, lunch boxes etc hanging up in the student room for easy viewing, and hopefully reunification with their rightful owner! All items not claimed by Friday, December 21st will be given to the Archangel Attic.
Schedule Changes for Next Semester
Students who need any schedule changes for next semester need to see Mrs. Brewer ASAP. Please don’t wait until the last minute to let her know.
Online Course Work
Students taking online courses who need proctoring must schedule testing before the end of the semester. No one will be available during the holidays to do this. See Mrs. Brewer if you have questions.
