Announcements

Don’t Forget!! National Honor Society: Lumen Christi is starting their first chapter of the National Honor Society. The NHS acknowledges those students in 10th-12th grade that stand out in scholarship, leadership, service and character. For those interested, applications were available starting December 1st and will be due no later than 3pm on December 15th. Please see Mrs. Craig for an application and for any additional questions you may have.

Don’t Forget!! 80’s Day!: On Friday December 15th, dress in your best 80s attire to celebrate the theme of our 2017-2018 Yearbook, “Totally 80s.” Examples of what to wear/what not to wear are posted on the bulletin boards at school. The school picture will be taken on this day as well. Let’s show some school spirit!

Fall Sports Banquet: On Friday, December 15th, we will hold a High School Fall Sports Banquet for cross country running, soccer, and volleyball from 6:30-8pm.

Lost & Found: The office has a big bag of items that have been collected from the student room, library and hallway after school each day. If your child is missing anything, please have them stop by to look through the lost & found. There are sweatshirts, water bottles, shoes, boots, jackets, etc. All unclaimed items will be donated to the Archangel Attic.

Finals Week Schedule:

Monday, December 18th-normal scheduled school day
Tuesday, December 19th- Finals for periods 1 & 2. School day begins at 7:45am and ends at 11:15am.
Wednesday, December 20th-Finals for periods 3 & 4. School day begins at 7:45am and ends at 11:15am.
Thursday, December 21st-Finals for periods 5 & 6. School day begins at 7:45am and ends at 11:15am.
Friday, December 22nd-No School, Teacher Inservice

Jidor Needs a Home: Jidor, Mrs. Craig’s classroom bunny needs a home for Christmas break. If your family is interested in helping take care of Jidor, please let Mrs. Craig or the office know. You can contact Mrs. Craig at acraig@lumenchristiak.org.

Scrip: Our next Scrip order deadline will be 1pm on Friday, December 15th. Get your gift card orders in this week. Think about your groceries, gas, Christmas gift list, movies, eating out….put your order in and it will arrive by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

Junior High Winter Fun Day: The Junior High Winter Fun Day is scheduled for Saturday, December 16, 2017. The day begins at 8:45 a.m. at the Dimond Ice Chalet and ends at 5:00 p.m. Please bring a check in the amount of $30 payable to AOA (Archdiocese of Anchorage) or cash for the skating, bowling, and movie. Participants must also have money to buy their own lunch in the lower food court and do their own shopping. Please talk to your parish youth ministry leader about carpooling together from your parish for this event. Adult chaperones only need to pay for the activities in which they participate. Most simply come to the movie. We don’t know exactly which movie we will attend, but are hoping the theater adds additional show times for the new Star Wars movie. We’ll know more on Wednesday, December 13. There will likely be a couple of options to choose from. Senior Memory Pages:

Senior Memory pages are due during the month of December. If you or your parents/you are making your own memory page, it will be due December 21st, 2017.

If you do not have your memory pages submitted on time, they will not be featured in the yearbook. All submissions can be given digitally or hard-copy to Mrs. Spillers.

Calling All Photographers!: Do you have any great pictures of your students playing sports or participating in extra-curricular activities? Although our Yearbook team tries to be at as many events as possible, we can’t be everywhere. Please send any pictures you have to Mrs. Spillers, so that we can try to include them in the yearbook. PVO News:

PVO hosted a wonderful Christmas appreciation lunch for the teachers, school staff, and parish staff last Friday. Thank you to all that helped out. It was a very nice afternoon!

Gala:

Our first Gala meeting was this week- thank you for attending. Mark your calendars for the next meeting on January 9th at 7pm.
Baskets and ribbon- Bring in any baskets and ribbon you may have or find on a great sale this time of year.Also, look at bargain shopping after Christmas for things that could be put together to make a great basket!
Wine- Bring in bottles of wine valued at $20 or more for our Wine Grab Bags.
