Principal’s Update: I missed providing you an update last week because I joined the high school students on overnight Retreat at St. Therese’s camp. It was a wonderfully spiritual event and the students had so many opportunities to connect with each other and to reflect on how to love as Christ loved. Many thanks to our teachers who helped organize and supervise and a special thanks to the parents who helped cook and chaperone. Our newly christened “Campus Ministry Team” of students deserves a shout out since they led their peers in small group spiritual discussion, Mass, prayer, Adoration, and religious activities over the two days. As you enter the school building, be sure to take a moment to look at the ground around the shrine of Mary. Our students final activity was to paint a word on a rock which best captured their Retreat experience. Some of my favorites are: Commitment, Friendship, Courage, Community, and Family. All of these, and many more, were on full display last week and I was privileged to join our students in this experience.
While the high school was on Retreat, our junior high students enjoyed an educational (but rainy) trip to the Alaska Zoo and some time at the bowling alley. They also made sandwiches for Brother Francis Shelter and practiced their artistic talent. Our junior high soccer team also competed in the Alaska Christian Schools Activity Association tournament in Palmer. Although our team lost all three games, their spirits were high and their good sportsmanship showed.
At this week’s Monday assembly, we recognized the hard work (and salesmanship!) of 24 students who sold all of their Gold Cards. Each received a $10 gift card and a Dress Down day (to be announced). Matthew Goodwin received a $50 gift card for selling the most Gold Cards (18), while the 7th graders dined on sub sandwiches on Tuesday for selling the most number of cards by percentage out of all the classes. Overall, the Gold Card sales effort raised just over $5000 for the school! Well done Archangels!
Our tennis season closed out with Sofia Main competing in the Region 3 championships where she took second place after a nearly three hour match against her rival. Way to go Sofia! This Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, our varsity soccer team competes in Kenai at the ASAA tournament, so best of luck as they close out their season.
If you can join us, we will celebrate the Feast of the Archangel Mass on Thursday and recognize the actions of St. Michael, St. Gabriel, and St. Raphael for whom we are honored to have the Archangel as our school mascot.
Thank you for your continued support to the school and to our students and faculty! God Bless You!
Feast of the Archangel: Mass this week will be on Thursday for the Feast of the Archangel. To accommodate this, our school schedule will be slightly different next week.
Wednesday – will follow a Thursday schedule
Thursday – will follow a Wednesday schedule with Mass
Friday – regular Friday A schedule

For 10 years he served as Director of Youth Ministry at St. John Neumann in St. Charles, Illinois. Since 1991 Frank has served as Executive Director of Cultivation Ministries.
