Campus Ministry:
- Looking for a great Lenten bond with your son or daughter? How about coming to 7:15 Mass once a week together at Lumen Christi room 120? Mass is finished in time for students to have a few minutes before class begins at 7:45.
- All youth are invited to Youth Prayer Night this Friday, March 10 from 7-8 PM in St. Benedict Church. Lent is a great time to renew prayer life.
- Be on the lookout for Parish missions at both your your home Parishes and sister parishes. Parish Missions offer talks and interactive discussion with dynamic speakers on Faith. Missions generally run 4-5 sessions in one week. These are great times of Faith renewal and reflection for teens and adults.
- Our next Parent Discussion Group is Sunday, April 2 from 4:00 – 5:45 in room 109. We hope to see you there!
- St. Benedict Youth will be skiing on Tuesday, March 14 at Hilltop. Youth from all parishes are invited. More information can be found on the Campus Ministry Bulletin Board in the main hallway outside Mr. B’s room
- Have you considered taking an hour a week to be still with Christ in Adoration? St. Benedict will be holding Adoration Monday – Friday each week from 10am to 10pm in the Church, beginning April 17. Students and parents are invited to sign up for Eucharistic Adoration at your home Parish or at St. Benedict Parish.
- Please join our Ladies prayer group each Saturday morning at 10 a.m. in the Library. This is a great time of prayer and fellowship.
- This Friday there will be no service hours at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. We will start again the Friday after Spring Break. Students can sign up on the hall bulletin board here at Lumen. Parents are also welcome to email Liz at eloeffler@lumenchristiak.org or call Lumen’s main office for parent sign up!
- All students grades 6-8 are invited to St. Benedict’s Junior High youth group on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of each month at 6 p.m.
- Students who attend their home Parish’s Youth group can earn extra points in Theology Classes!
- It is great to see so many new altar servers serving for our school Masses. There is plenty of room for more! Catholic students who have never served to be trained here at school.
- Looking ahead: World Youth Day is January 22-27, 2019 in Panama. Watch your Parish bulletin for updates.

Principal’s Update: A big thank you to all who volunteered time, talent, and treasure and helped make the Gala a great success! Our students did an especially awesome job; I received dozens of compliments about how well our students humbly served our guests and how they showcased the high quality of our school. Thanks, too, to the parent volunteers who made the night go very smoothly and the clean up seamless. What a wonderful family we have here at Lumen and thank you again to everyone who made this event possible!
On Monday, we recognized the hard work, commitment, and accomplishments of our academic honor roll students. Congratulations to all our award recipients! We also presented Nathan Marshall (Class of 2018) with the “…And Then Some” Award. This award is given to that student, junior or senior high, who goes above and beyond that expected of Lumen students. A selfless servant, Nathan exemplifies daily our Core Values of Faith, Family, and Excellence. He is quick to volunteer to serve at Mass, play music at the State of the School and the Gala, and proudly represents Lumen in everything he does. Well done Nathan!
We again wish both the boys and girls basketball teams success as they compete in Homer this week for Regions. Go Archangels!

Principal’s Update: We have a short week this week and I look forward to seeing everyone at Parent-Teacher conferences today and Thursday. As you come in to talk to your son or daughter’s teachers, we hope you will bring in your completed re-enrollment forms so we can include your family in our planning for next year. We also hope you will take the time if waiting to complete our annual online survey for AdvancED accreditation. Several computers will be available in Dr. Carlson’s room (Rm 110) while you wait to talk with teachers or you can go to the survey here: https://goo.gl/R0JdWC. This is the parent survey; your son or daughter will be asked to complete a similar survey for students. These surveys are very important not only for our accreditation, but also for our own continuous improvement as a school. For the first time, we have been able to add Catholic identity questions to the survey. We hope you will provide us this valuable feedback by March 1st. Thank you again!

Principal’s Update: We finished up Catholic Schools Week with a beautiful community Mass with the parishioners of St. Benedict’s on Feb 5th. Thank you to the 20+ families who attended this very special event!
Our high school basketball teams and our junior high volleyball team have been very busy and engaged in competitions around the state. With only a few weeks left in the season, we encourage you to come out to a game and support our proud Archangels!
For those that missed the State of the School on January 30th, we have posted our slide presentation as well as a short report of the evening on our website. At the end of the presentation, I provided a list of 10 things that friends of Lumen can do to help light the path to the future for our school. That list is:
1) Talk about the 4 great things about our school to anyone you know
2) Attend the Community Mass on Sunday, Feb 5th
3) Invite a prospective family to the Open House on Mar 7th
4) Volunteer to serve as a Parent/Student Ambassador
5) Volunteer at the Archangel Attic
6) Volunteer with Friday afternoon Faith in Action opportunities
7) Volunteer to sell concessions at our home games
8) Support the Gala (attend, invite others, volunteer, find donations)
9) Donate to the LUMENARY Drive and invite at least 5 of your friends and family to do the same
10) Commit to SCRIP, Fred Meyer Rewards, Pick.Click.Give., and Amazon Smile
Please feel free to contact me if you have questions or comments. Go Lumen!
