A Call to Our Friends and Supporters
Over the past six years, Lumen Christi Catholic High School has experienced a period of historic growth, from 67 students in 2019-20 to our current enrollment of 141 (representing a more than 113% increase!). As we have welcomed this record number of students to our halls, we are reminded of the strong foundation that our alumni families, friends and supporters helped build. Today, we invite you to play a vital role in our next chapter as we expand our campus to meet this exciting demand.
Excellence Through Growth
In order to accommodate our burgeoning student population, first the “student room” (where lockers were centrally located and students gathered informally); then the Upper Room of the gym, and finally the library were converted into classrooms. Conversion of these spaces were critical in order to maintain a low student:teacher ratio which is one of the hallmarks of the Lumen Christi educational model.
The loss of the school’s library, a central resource for both students and the Lumen Christi community, has had the most significant impact on daily operations. While our teachers and students have adapted with the grace and resilience typical of the Archangel spirit, our goal is to return the library to its original purpose. We want to give our students back their dedicated hub for collaboration, community, and quiet reflection.
This portable classroom is the first step in a larger strategic plan. Our School Board has determined the need to build two classrooms in order to accommodate projected additional growth in a manner that affords students adequate “personal space.” The portables will be handicap accessible, which the “Upper Room” classroom does not currently permit. While the immediate need is for one portable classroom, once we exceed the total cost of $250,000, we will immediately begin the planning of this second portable classroom. Might you or someone you know have the resources to sponsor the second classroom? We have sent an ambitious goal to raise $100,000 in just six weeks. This timeline is critical to ensuring the new space is ready for our students for the fall semester of 2026. As someone who recognizes the value of Catholic education, you understand that our community thrives when we support one another. While we are asking School Board Members, alumni parents, grandparents and graduates to lead this effort, we’re also turning to our valued friends of Lumen Christi. Your contribution – at any level – is a powerful vote of confidence in the future of our students.
The Project: Expanding Our Footprint
To accommodate our expanded student body and reclaim our library, we are raising funds for new construction, portable classrooms. These portables will:

- Accommodate Capacity: Provide a comfortable, technology-ready learning environment for a full class.
- Restore the Library: Allow us to transition the library back into a student-centered resource and gathering hub.
- Permit Additional Handicap Accessible Learning Space: We want all of our classroom space to accommodate the special needs of our Archangels.
- Support Our Faculty: Give our educators the dedicated space they need to maintain small class sizes and personalized instruction.
Our Six Week Goal: $100,000!

How You Can Help

- Leadership Gifts: Help us reach our goal quickly with a significant contribution toward the structure and installation of at least one, but preferably two portable classrooms.
- Sponsor the Second Classroom: Might you or someone you know be willing to step forward and sponsor the second classroom at $250,000?
- Monthly Pledges: For those who wish to spread their impact over the course of six months
- In-Kind Donations of Time and Talent: Jamie and Merrileigh Boring (a “soon-to-be” alumni family!) have stepped forward and donated their family’s services to act as the General Contractor on this project – saving $80,000 in overall cost! Might you be able to offer licensed, professional service in any of the building trades?
- Spreading the Word: Share our mission with other friends who know the value of Catholic education to help us reach our target by the end of February.
Lumen Christi is growing because the core values of “Faith, Family, and Excellence” are values we all share. Supporting this expansion is how we ensure these values continue to reach more students every year. Together, we can enhance our campus and provide our students with the best possible environment to learn and lead.
