I was born in Northampton, England and my father’s career as a geophysicist for major oil companies translated to my early years being spent overseas, predominantly in Singapore, Indonesia and Africa. My family came back to the U.S. (Houston, Texas) when I was in middle school, then moved to McLean, Virginia when my father went to work for the World Bank.
I attended Langley High School in McLean and participated in Soccer and Track and Field (400 meters, 400 meter hurdles and decathlon.) I attended North Carolina State University on a Track & Field Scholarship for 2 years then transferred to George Washington University for 2 years while I was rehabbing after knee surgeries. Once those surgeries were behind me, I played soccer overseas in both Portugal and Brazil. I later returned to the U.S. to finish my degree at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and graduated with a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Bachelor’s in Exercise Physiology with a concentration on Athletic Training and Physical Therapy.
It was in Nebraska that I met someone from Alaska and decided to visit. Like many, once I came to visit, the decision to stay was an easy one. During my first week on the job at the Alaska Club, I met a fabulous woman who would soon become my wife!
This is my sixth year as the Athletic Director at Lumen Christi High School. My wife and I have 3 children, one of whom is a Lumen graduate; the other two are currently enrolled. Our graduate was an athlete for the school (soccer, volleyball and basketball) and our other two students are just as involved. Sports dominates our lives! During the summer I’m a Tour Director for Premier Tours and love showing off the state of Alaska.
